Welcome to my December Favourites post and my GOD am I excited to share these products with you! Sorry this post is a little later than I expected to have it up by, but better late than never, right?! This past month I tried out so many new products that came in my Look Fantastic Beauty Advent Calendar and my December Birchbox, so there will be quite a few to talk about today. Let’s jump right in then!
My first favourite this month is the HD Brows Contour and Colour Pro Palette, which actually came in the first day of my Look Fantastic Advent Calendar … and you can bet that I haven’t been able to put it down since. I don’t believe you can actually buy this palette on it’s own, I could be wrong but I can’t find it on their website. It has three powder foundation pans, one bronzer, one highlight and on blush. I’ve got to say the powder foundation shades aren’t ranged very well, but tbh with 3 pans, how wide would you expect them to be? I use the middle shade which is in the colour Fawn. The Bronzer shade does look a little shimmery, which I’m not a fan of, but when applied it’s very much matte and it gives you such a sun-kissed glow and I am in much need of this right now. The highlight is quite pink toned and I can see this being a very good shimmery blush for the Spring / Summer time and as you may know I absolutely love glowy/ highlight blush! I haven’t actually tried the blusher yet as it looks a little bright for me, but I’m sure when the weather starts to get warmer that I will try this out. Overall, I think this palette is really good quality and works soo well, who needs the ABH one eh?
Next up is the Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick in Celebrity Skin. I used to have this a few years ago, but just never got round to purchasing another one and I forgot just how much I love it. This is a matte liquid lipstick in a dark-ish nude shade and it works so well with my skin tone as it looks quite natural and not too much. It also has a Root Beer Float scent to it and it smells absolutely incredible. The formula of Jeffree’s liquid lipstick are deffo the best that I’ve tried, they’re so lightweight, not drying, they don’t crack or make the lips look cakey. As well as all of this they last really well on the lips and they’re vegan friendly as well … and all that for £16, you just can’t go wrong! I am so glad to have this back in my collection.
I first tried the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream early – mid last year and it worked so well on my skin, and I’ve really been loving using it again this past month or so. I love how this is usable on both the face and the body, so would be perfect for travelling with. Although it’s quite thick for a moisturiser, it soaks into the skin quickly and doesn’t leave it feeling greasy. This moisturizer has a mix of Shea Butter, Eucalyptus, Oatmeal and Ceramides, which all work really well for the skin. For example, Eucalyptus helps to heal sars from Acne and Eczema and it’s an anti-inflammatory … so this cream works particularly well for those with dehydrated, blotchy skin with scars or blemishes. You do get a fair amount of product in the tube and it retails at £10, which I’m not mad about considering the way it performs!!
This month I fiiinallyy was able to try out the Mane n’ Tail Shampoo and Conditioner which has been on my list of products to try for such a long time, after all the hype and good things I have heard about it on Blog and Youtube videos. Because I use quite a lot of heat on my hair and have previously coloured my hair quite a bit, my hair was absolutely paying for it, so I needed something to give it a new lease of life. Although hair masks and other treatments did help, I didn’t find that my hair was feeling much better … until I tried out these ones. Within a few washes my hair felt and looked a whole lot shinier, healthier, less frizzy and also didn’t come out as much when brushing. So I would say these deffo did the job and I cannot recommend this to you guys enough, especially if your hair could do with a bit of TLC. Soo … liner has crept it’s way back into my makeup bag after years of hardly wearing it and it’s all thanks to the Doucce Fierce & Fine Graphic Pen which, hense the name, has a felt tip pen applicator and this makes it super easy to apply.
Moving on to the eye products that I have been loving this month and the first one is the Eyeko Black Magic Mascara. Again … another product that has been on my wishlist for as long as I can remember and thank god that it lived up to my expectations. I usually stick to the same handful of mascaras that I have used for god knows how many years, without branching out and trying out new ones but after reading that it lengthens, lifts and curls, has shea butter in it to volumize, doesn’t smudge or crumble … literally everything you could ever wish for in a mascara. I love how long and thick this makes my lashes look, it lasts all day and still looks just as great at 8 in the morning as it does at 8 in the evening, and it doesn’t give that spidery, clumpy look that some mascaras do … as you can tell I’m utterly obsessed haha.
I had a bit of a break from using the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer as I wasn’t really loving it too much, due to it being quite thick and cakey, as well as clinging to dry patches, however I’ve started to warm to it a little more recently. I find that using the tiniest bit goes a long way and if blended with a damp beauty blender it can look really nice. Obviously, for any concealer, if it’s set correctly it can make it look a whole lot better and not crease, to make sure it stays in place all day.
The Laura Geller Filter First Foundation has quickly become part of my everyday makeup routine and I really love the way it makes my skin look. I have the shade Buff, which matches my skin almost perfectly, it smooths and covers all my blemishes and gift a natural glowy to the skin. This foundation stays in place all day and looks just as good when first put on, as it does at the end of the day. They have 11 shades in this foundation, so it’s not too much of a wide shade range but I reckon that if you can find your shade, that it will match almost perfectly.
After running out of my daily facial cleanser, my LF Advent Calendar same through with the Omoroviza Budapest Moor Cream Cleanser and this has become my everyday face wash. It’s almost like a clay mask, but you wash your face with it instead. I haven’t been using it long, but I have noticed how much it is toning down any redness, any scarring and blemishes I may have, as well as getting rid of any dry patches I have.
Now, last but not least, it has to be one of my favourite products that I have tried in such a long time and it’s the Illamasqua Beyond Powder Highlighter in Deity. This powder is so smooth and glides on the skin to blend out really well. It almost sinks into the skin and doesn’t give that powdery look, just a nice glow. It isn’t too much so you can go for more of a natural look, however it’s really buildable so if you want a highlight that POPS, then either way this highlight will be for you. Being from Illamasqua it is going to be a little pricey and it retails at £34 (currently on sale here)
