I struggle so much to find foundations that not only match my skin tone but also work well with my skin type and stay on the skin all day without going patchy. I know I’m so late on this foundation as it’s been raved about in the beauty industry for years now and a lot of my favourite Bloggers/ Youtubers swear by this, so I thought I should FINALLLYY get round to trying it out. It also didn’t used to have a pump, so when I saw that it now has a pump I knew that it would probably work better for me.
I decided to pick up the Normal/ Dry foundation in the shade Buff, which is the second lightest shade, and has yellow undertones, so I was hoping that it was going to match me without being too orange toned like a lot of other brands ‘lightest’ shades are.
On application I found the colour was near enough a perfect match, which set me off on the right foot. It applied very evenly, had decent coverage and only took about 2 pumps to cover my whole face … when in other foundations it can take 3/4 pumps to get my desired coverage. I applied it to my face with a Foundation Brush and then bounced it into my skin with a Beauty Blender. I noticed just how smooth the foundation looked on my face, including on the areas where I have dry patches and I didn’t find it separating. Obviously as this foundation is for Normal/ Dry skin, I noticed how hydrating it was and how much of a glowy look it gave the skin, which I genuinely really like in a foundation. I’d say this foundation has medium, but buildable, coverage that is lightweight and doesn’t look cakey.
I wore this foundation for around 8 hours and it felt comfortable throughout the day and also still looked good on the skin after a few hours. Towards the end of the day I did notice that the areas around my nose and the apples of my cheeks did start to go a bit oily but as this was the area I usually get quite dry I wasn’t to bothered as it didn’t look patchy or like it was separating. If I was to wear the foundation for more than 8 hours, I would have used some blotting papers or set these areas with some more powders and I feel like it wouldn’t look cakey.
Overall I am very impressed with this foundation as it has 21 different shades, so I was able to find my perfect match, it works really well with my dry/combination skin and it lasts well throughout the day. This foundation retails at £12.99, which I think is actually pretty good … although it’s at the top end of drugstore prices, I do feel that this price is justified through it’s performance. I would really recommend this foundation to anyone looking for a drugstore foundation but with the performance of a high end, pricier foundation. They also have a combination/oily skin version as well which may work better for some of you!!
