This sponge is one that I’ve been particularly excited about reviewing since I first started doing this series and I’ve finally been able to do it. I cannot believe I’m already on the 7th post of this series and I’m still very much enjoying doing it, so I really hope you are to. So … what do I think of the Morphe Highlight & Contour Sponge then?
To start with I will say that this sponge is denser and former than other makeup sponges that I have previously used. I do find that due to the firmness of the sponge, it doesn’t seem to soak up as much product as the beauty blender does, which is good as I’m able to get a higher coverage, whilst using less product. I haven’t actually used a sponge that’s this shape before but the pointed tip always works well for blending around the eyes. The other end that is more square, is perfect for baking under Contour to create that perfect chiseled look. I would say that this sponge is missing a more rounded or even flat edge which is needed for blending the rest of the base products out, so I think this will deffo be more of a baking sponge.
The Beauty Blender does have many different coloured sponges which are all said to do be for different reasons, for example the pink is the OG for base products and black was originally meant to be more for Makeup Artists. This sponge however, only comes in red but I actually love the colour and a bonus is that it doesn’t seem to run or fade, like I did notice the beauty blender does.
At just £8 this sponge is one of the cheaper ones so that’s always a plus with anything, especially if it works well. I think that’s well worth it considering that it’s from Morphe and it’s pretty good quality. I’m sure those of you that like a more full coverage look and have the patience to blend for a while, would really like this sponge and could be used for multiple different things including Contour & highlight, baking, cream and liquid products. I think the Morphe Complexion sponge or even the Flawless sponge, also from Morphe, would be more up my street but I guess I won’t know until I try them too!
My overall opinion of the Morphe Highlight & Contour sponge is that it isn’t the best one I’ve tried, especially for liquid or cream products, however I have been using it to bake and I love how it makes my cheekbones look because of how sharp I can make them look. I have read multiple reviews on different websites that customers have left and I can see that they’re pretty 50/50, but what do you think of this sponge? I’d love to know in the comments below.
