My Favourite Horror Films to watch on Halloween. || Blogtober

I know I just shared an autumn film favourites post, (which you can read here) but as I only mentioned one horror in that list, I thought I would do another film faves solely on horror films. As I’m past that age of trick or treating, one way I love to spend Halloween is by watching horror or Halloween related films. So, if you would like to hear all about my top 5 favourite horror films, then please carry on reading and I hope you enjoy.

HUSH

I came across this film on Netflix whilst on a sleepover at a friends and after reading the Blurb (or whatever it’s called) we knew it would be a good’en. The blurb said

A deaf writer who retreated into the woods to live a solitary life must fight for her life in silence when a masked killer appears in her window.’

The majority of the film is actually quiet apart from sounds effects, just as it would be for her because she’s deaf. But when you seen the masked man pop up behind her and she’s totally oblivious, it does make you jump … especially when you don’t know where he’s gone.

WOMAN IN BLACK

I haven’t actually seen this film for a few years but I remember when I first watched in the cinema, I think I went 2 or 3 times to see it. This film has Daniel Radcliffe as the lead actors and it’s a completely different character that we’ve ever seen him play. This film isn’t necessarily scary, it’s more jumpy and the idea of the women in black is very creepy. I won’t ruin anything for you if you haven’t seen it, but it’s deffo a one to watch possibly for any age so it’s a good family horror if you wanted to watch one this Halloween. (Obviously if they’re of age and I would say at least 12/13.)

FREDDY VS JASON

To be honest any of the Nightmare on Elm Street films scare me but it was this one in particular that creeped me out. I remember being scared of sleeping for weeks after watching this, but the minute I went on another sleepover at a friends, it’s the first film we’d reach for because we knew it was the scariest one … and that would be another few weeks of sleepless nights. Again, it’s been a while since I watched this, but all I can remember every now and again is the creepy little rhyme and that creeps me out again. I don’t think the actual film is jumpy, it’s just very creepy, especially knowing it’s about young kids going missing.

INSIDIOUS

Insidious, insidious , insidious. The amount this film made me jump and shook me up when growing up is crazy. If you haven’t seen the film, basically the main character Dalton is sees something one night that he can’t explain and then he falls into a coma afterwards. Whilst he’s in the coma strange things happen in his house, to his family and Dalton sleep walks around the house. Then things start to get really bad so they have to try and get to the bottom of it. The creepy old women still creeps me out to this day when I see a picture of her. If you do end up watching this, just beware of how jumpy this film is.

ARE YOU SCARED?

Are you scared is a film that I believe was on Netflix or maybe sky movies years ago and it’s basically about a few friends that go on a game show but they’re kidnapped into a sadistic game show and the prize is basically to survive. It is weird but it’s your typically gory yet so unrealistic so it’s not super scary. But it’s actually really good if that hasn’t already sold it to you haha.

So there we have my top 5 favourite horror films to watch at anytime, but especially at Halloween. I’d love to hear what your favourite horrors are, in the comments below.
