My Favourite Fall Lipsticks! | Blogtober

With Autumn being one of my favourite times of the year, especially for makeup, I wanted to share with you my favourite lipsticks that I always reach for during the season. Some of these shades may not be the type of colours that scream Autumn to others but I think they finish off my makeup looks nicely. I know a lot of people like to wear deep vamp-y purple, berry shades during the Autumn and for me it’s always been about the dark reds and browns; however, this year it’s been a mix of everything. Anyway, let’s see what my go-to autumnal lips are for 2020!

The first lipstick that I love to wear during the Autumn is Party Line from MAC, which is a deep red shade, although I think it looks more purple in the swatch. This is your typical Autumnal lip colour and has autumn written all over it. It’s one of the Cremesheen lipsticks so it isn’t creamy and gloss like, but it does have a nice sheen to it and I think it compliments the lip colour really nicely. I find that these dark colours can be quite patchy sometimes, but this one is really pigmented and the swatch below is with only a couple of swipes of the product. If you’re looking for a new autumnal lip to rock this season, then this would be the one I’d recommend to you the most.

Next up, is the MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in the shade Flat out Fabulous, which is definitely my favourite Autumnal shade.  I love this because it’s got the berry shade of an Autumnal lip, but it’s also still quite bright so you can still hang on to the bright Summer lip for a little bit longer; definitely a good transition colour. I’ve been using this lipstick every Autumn for nearly 6 years now, one that I keep repurchasing and it was actually the first MAC product I ever bought; 14 year old me felt very boujee. Also the reason why this became my fave autumnal lip is because I first bought it around this time of the year and became obsessed with it so I find myself reaching for it now more than any other time of year.

Usually during the Autumn I like to wear more of a matte lip but sometimes when it’s been cold and if my lips start to chap, I love to put a gloss to just to keep my lips hydrated. This is the Smashbox lip gloss in the shade Disco Rose and it’s a beautiful deep red gloss. The swatch in the above photo doesn’t do this one any favours, it looks patchy and really wasn’t easy to swatch. However, when applied to the lips, it is quite pigmented for a gloss, it’s very creamy so you don’t get that sticky feeling like you can with other glosses and it has a square doe foot applicator which makes it really easy to apply and line your lips with it whilst you do; so no mess!

Next up is the Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick in Dirty Money. I had my eye on this lip colour for such a long time before I eventually picked it up towards the beginning of this year and I had put it off for so long because it is a bold colour and I didn’t think I would wear it. However, when I saw it was at a reduced price I thought it would be as good a time as any to give it a try and I knew that I could use it in my eye looks if it wasn’t very me on my lips. I’ve only worn this a couple of times when I’ve done full glam looks, although I still haven’t had the courage to wear it out, but it’s such a stunning colour, I feel like it really compliments my green eyes and just SCREAMS Autumn!

Now the next one is another one of those transitional lip colours and it’s the Body Shop’s Matte Liquid Lip in Cali Gerbera. It’s a beautiful bright orange and I’m always in shock at just how pigmented this one is… the swatch above is two swipes of the product and I didn’t feel like I had to work with it at all to build up the colour. This is one that I feel like anyone can pull off, it’s not one that’s going to wash you out, it’s one that although it’s bold I can wear everyday and not feel like it’s too much, like I do with Dirty Money. If you’re looking for an affordable, versatile and year round lippy then this one would be for you!

After all of this colour I couldn’t go without mentioning at least one nude, you know me! I used to try and steer clear from a nude lip during the Autumn because it’s all I wear for the rest of the year, other than a good ol’ Christmas red,  as I’d go for more of a brown (Stone from MAC is a good’un) but I haven’t found myself reaching for a brown so far this year, however this nude has been a go-to. This one is from Charlotte Crosby’s Cosmetic Range ‘Flique’ and it’s the shade In The Nude. It’s unlike any of the other nudes in my collection (which is hard because there’s a lot) as it’s very warm toned almost like a burnt orange with nude and it almost looks mustardy in the swatch, but on the lips it looks stunning. I wouldn’t necessarily describe this as a matte lip as it’s smooth and creamy; it has more of a velvet finish like the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams.
