Things I do to feel more confident;
- THE Shower:
Remember that last time you had a function or a party or important plans where you had THE shower and wore a new outfit making you feel so great about yourself, well maybe we should do this more often. Take a little time for some self care, to do your full skincare routine, including your body because let’s be honest, we probably forget this more than we’d like to admit. From shaving, to exfoliating, to moisturising, maybe even pop on a bit of tan if that makes you feel good. A hair mask, some bath oil and all the other good stuff that you can take into the bathroom with you and just take some time for your self and make yourself a priority.
- Pamper:
I suppose this is a run on from my first tip, but this is more treatment focused. I know I feel much more put together when my nails are painted, when I have a fresh hair cut and blow dry or even a massage. Things that you can head to a salon, take sometime out of your day and someone else can take the time to pamper you, that way you can just relax because you may not have time to do this very often now the world is getting busy again. As a beauty therapist myself, I see clients every couple of weeks coming back for their nails to be done or a massage to really give themselves time to de-stress, relax and get a treatment done that just makes them feel, well more like them. There are so many different treatments you can get that will completely tailor to your needs and it may only be 20-30 mins out of your day, but it can make the world of difference.
- Clothes:
- Working out:
Working out is probably the obvious one but I don’t just mean working out to lose weight, I mean working out to release the endorphins that give you that rush of positivity and make you feel good. Working out at home is great if that’s what your comfotable with, or find a class at the gym that you find fun to do as I feel exercise shouldn’t feel like a chore. Or even find something else that you enjoy that can give you the same kinda feeling afterwards e.g. horse riding/ swimming and even just a short walk. And obviously if there is a specific part of your body you’d like to work on, that can give you a confidence boost too when you start to see the results.
- Following people with similar bodies to me:
The average person spends quite a lot of time on their phones nowadays, particularly on social media where we can be bombarded with models, celebrities, influencers posts. Editing, Photoshop, filters, the best angles and the best parts of everyone’s lives, that it can actually be doing more bad than good to ourselves and can even be quite a toxic place to spend our time. Obviously, we do know that not everyone looks exactly like their feed may suggest, certainly not all the time, but it can make us double take our rolls, stretch marks, big pores, acne/bacne etc. One of the best ways I have found that combats this is to follow more people with similar body types and shapes to me or those that show the ‘reality’ more often as this makes me feel more human and that everyone does get rolls, stretch marks or shaving bumps etc.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, I hope it helps at least one of you. Also, a special thank you to Identity Lingerie for working with me on this post, don’t forget to check out their stunning pieces and I will see you all soon with a new post soon!!
