Red Lipstick:
Throughout this year I have very much been about the dark nude, sometimes brown, lip with a clear gloss on top. But now Christmas is just around the corner and party season is about to start, I’m ready to whip the red lip again. This makes my first winter essential for this year, and every other year in fact, is Ruby Woo by MAC; it’s a staple in many peoples makeup collections and arguably one of the most iconic red lipsticks on the market to date. Being part of the Retro Matte Collection and being a matte lip, it comes with many cons as well as it’s pros. It is very drying so I would suggest applying a lip balm first, it’s almost hard to apply sometimes so I like to warm it up on the back of my hand first and it can also be very messy where the colour bleeds and smudges. Being this matte it does however, last a good amount of time on the lips, it’s very pigmented so you’re going to get a solid red lip in a couple of swipes; just know that it does stain the lips a little and needs a bit of a scrub to get it all off after.
ABH Loose Highlighter in Vegas:
Now, I know there a so many incredible highlighters that I could’ve chosen, but nothing seems to compare to this one from ABH; this one looks like liquid gold on your cheekbones. With party season on the way, alongside the red lip, a glowy highlight is always a close second to my favourite part of my makeup routine. I mean, I always wear way to much highlight but at Christmas time is just more acceptable isn’t it? And I can put EVEN more on. Not only does it give you a nice golden glow, but it also has glitter reflects in it and that just screams CHRISTMAS; highly recommend.
Marc Jacobs 790 FANTASCene Eye Palette:
There are so many eye palettes that I reach for as soon as we get into Autumn/Winter but this year I can it’s going to be mainly this stunning one from Marc Jacobs. This palette has some gorgeous pinky nudes and a burgundy, which I’m absolutely obsessed with, some of which are mattes and some are gorgeous shimmers. Being from MJ you just know this palette was going to be full of good quality, smooth, pigmented shadows and they blend like a dream. I’ve already used this palette a fair few times but I just know you’re going to see me wearing this a lot over the next couple of months, particularly over on Instagram.
Lip Scrubs and Balms:
My lips really do not work well with the colder weather, the minute that temperature drops my lips are almost constantly red, dry and flaky and it’s even worse when you haven’t got lip balm on you. I’ve always used and loved the Lush lip scrubs, but I’ve been really liking the Avant Velvet Rose Sugar Scrub recently and it’s quickly become my go-to. It feels a little more oily with the scrub in it, rather than just straight up sugar and it leaves my lips feeling smooth, flake free and even a little bit plump. I feel like most lip balms are the same, they all do the same job but I really love the Natural Extracts ones, they smells amazing, they’re quite thick when you first put it on but it melts down a little bit and looks almost like gloss on the lips; the coconut ones my fave!
Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil:
As much as I try to look after my skin during the day it’s at night that I really go ham so I can wake up with soft, smooth and, most importantly, clear skin. I’ve tried so many different oils, overnight masks, serums and not many have really been worth the money or stood out to me, aside from the ESPA overnight treatment and this one from Sunday Riley. It soaks into the skin nicely so you don’t get that oily feeling on your skin; I personally don’t like that. It also helps with that tight, dry feeling after you’ve cleansed and leaves my skin feeling hydrating and really glowy … just be careful not to spill it because it is blue and will stain.
Hair Treatments/ Masks:
My last essentials for this time of year are hair treatments/ masks. The weather definitely takes a huge toll on my hair, weather it’s making frizzy, dry or my curls just aren’t cooperating, the products I used always help to sort it out. From hair oils to mousses, leave in treatments, creams and masks there’s something for every hair type and style to keep your hair protected this season. One of my top products to use is Argan oil; I will coat my hair once or twice a week with this in the winter and it makes it feel so smooth, sleek and healthy, with a little bit of a shine. This is something that I couldn’t be without during the Winter.
SHOP THE POST
I recently picked out some trackies from FemmeLuxe, which have kindly been gifted to me, and I thought I would include a little haul within this post of what I picked up. Please excuse the quality of these photos it’s that time of year again when the lighting just isn’t on my side; even with a studio light. And my phone camera just wasn’t cooperating.
The first item I picked up were these Chocolate Cuffed Joggers in a size 12. I’ve been obsessed with chocolate brown clothes recently and I knew I had to get some joggers in that colour too. These joggers are super soft inside, I bought them in a size up because I knew they would be more oversized and this makes them so comfy and great for slouchy days.
This time of the year loungewear, onesies, trackies are all I live in, so I thought I’d pick up at least one set within this mini haul. I picked up the Grey Loungewear Set with Cropped Hoodie in a size 10 but it still is a really good fit; the top fits me really well and the joggers are little more oversized even though they come in a set, but I really like how this fits. It’s super comfy and I love that I can throw this on in the morning and head out but be super warm and comfy for the day a head.
The last item I picked up are these gorgeous Sage Seam Cuffed Joggers, I absolutely love the colour of these and I love that they are a bit different to the others with being more slim fit and having the seam running down the middle. I did pick these up in a size 10 which was a bit of an error because these are a little tight but I find FemmeLuxe a little tricky to work out the sizing as you can see from all the items I got. These are still super soft and I probably will pick these up in a 12 and pass the 10 on to someone else.
And those are my Winter essentials, what are yours? Let me know in the comments below. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post, I really hope you enjoyed and I will see you again soon with some festive posts; my favourite posts to write.
