We’re already half way through the 12 Days of Christmas posts now and, surprisingly, I haven’t done a makeup look yet; who am I? I couldn’t wait any longer to get my brushes out again and put some full glam on. I decided I wanted to use mainly drugstore products on this look, but I didn’t realise how many incredible high end products i automatically reach for, so that went out the window. I opted for a neutral/Smokey eye, a dark, sparkly lip and a hell of a lot of highlight; well it is Christmas after all!
Base:
First up is the base! I was aiming for a natural, lightweight, glowy base, but I got a bit carried away; probably because I haven’t really done much glam recently. I primed with the OH Primer and moved onto the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation to give a proper full coverage base; this foundation covers everything!! I hardly even needed concealer but I opted for the Collection Lasting Perfection Blemish Concealer to highly and brighten. Setting the face just HAD to be done with the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder; what else could I use? Bronzer, as always, was my trusty Benefit Hoola. Although this can go patchy, if you really focus on the blend it looks amazing!! For blush, I wanted quite a pinky blush so I went for the one in the Natasha Denona Blush Duo as it gives the lovely look of rosy cheeks, and of course had to use it on my nose too. Finally, for highlighter, I wanted something super glowy with a lil shimmer, because it’s a Christmas after all, so I went for a little, or a lot, of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Loose Highlighter in Vegas; it’s insane!
Brows:
I’ve been going for a more natural look with my brows in recent months so I decided to keep the same look today. I used the Refy Beauty Brow Gel to brush my brows up and set them in place; believe me when I say they’re STUCKK!! I then used the Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil to slightly fill in any sparse areas of my brows and finally set them with the Benefit Gimme Brow, Brow Gel. I use two brow gels because I don’t feel as though my brows are finished until I’ve used Gimmie Brow.
Eyes:
Now, time for the eyes! My favourite part of any makeup look; the bit where you can be uber creative. This evening, I went for a super smokey, almost purple toned, shimmery look. I started with a mix of Rough and Hypnotic on a big fluffy brush and blended it through the crease. Slowly deepen it with Arouse and blending again with my first brush to make the blend seamless. I then took a mix of Spicy, Untamed and Naughty on the outer corner and blending through again to make sure there’s no harsh lines or obvious gaps between the shadows. I then blended just under my brows with Filthy, again to blend because this is super important. Finishing off, I decided to add a little shimmer because why not? I added Provocative and Passion to the inner 2/3 of the lid.
I have a review of this palette on my blog, so if you would like to read all my in depth thoughts, pros, cons etc. be sure to check it out!!
As usual, no lashes for me but my proper glam look is coming in the next few posts, so keep an eye out for that if you want something a little more glam. I just curl my lashes and used the No7 Black / Brown Mascara on the top lashes, the Charlotte Tilbury Brown Liner on my waterline and VOILA, the eyes are complete. This look is super easy but it looks as though you’ve made lots of effort … especially if you were to add lashes as well.
Lips:
For the lips I went for a dark, shimmery lip as I’ve been absolutely loving this combo recently. The combo is the NYX Lip Liner in Cappuccino and the Fenty Gloss in Fu$$y. I’ve never really been much of a gloss person but these Fenty glosses are incredible, they don’t feel sticky, they last well on the lips and they do some stunning shades. I feel like a dark lip is very fitting to the time of year but to have a little shimmer in there too; I’m obsessed!!
Here’s the final look! I really hope you liked reading about how I created this look and seeing how incredible this eye palette is!! I’m so pleased with how this turned out and I didn’t want to take it off afterwards. I’m deffo going to recreate this look over the Christmas period; let me know if you recreate this look too, I’d love to see!
