To kick off my 12 Days of Christmas this year I’m sharing my Christmas to-watch list because, as usual, it’s always as long as my arm. I’m not going to be sharing the classics because I’m sure we all watch Elf, The Holiday and, of course, the Gavin & Stacey Christmas Specials every year as it’s not Christmas without any of those. So, this list will include all the new films coming out this year that have caught my eye and some older ones that I haven’t yet seen. Well, what will I be watching this month?
Last Christmas:
I’ve had this film in my mental to-watch list since it came out a couple of years ago, so I may have got a little bit too eager and watched it the other day before I even got round to finishing this post. It’s about a young women whose trying to make it as a singer whilst she works as an Elf in a Christmas shop in London . One day whilst at work she bumps into a guy and keeps bumping into him in the early parts of the film, until they become close and he helps her to start improving her life after something terrible happened last Christmas; hense the name of the film. It has a bit of a twist towards the end that you really, really don’t expect … it was honestly one of the best films I’ve seen in a while and I’m not going to ruin it for you if you haven’t yet seen it but, if you haven’t, you NEED to I cannot recommend it enough!
Office Christmas Party:
Single All The Way:
As of the day this post goes up, this film will have been released on Netflix so you can probably guess what my plans will be after work this evening. I always like when a trailer gets you hooked even before you’ve finished watching it all and this one certainly did that. A guy called Peter is tired of his family trying to set him up on dates and getting involved with his love life that he persuades his best friend Nick to pose as his boyfriend when he goes home to see his family for Christmas. The film follows their ‘relationship’ and things start to unravel as the film goes on. Doesn’t this just sound like the perfect movie for this time of the year? It’s almost giving me Bad Moms at Christmas vibes, another classic, as the mom is getting so involved in his relationships or lack of.
Home Sweet Home Alone:
Let’s be honest, Home Alone just HAS to be the best Christmas film out there, particularly Lost in New York. I just can’t get into the Christmas spirit until I’ve watched both movies, sometimes even the 3rd one if I really am not feeling festive. This year however, they’ve bought out a new one!!! Can you believe it? It’s called Home Sweet Home Alone and the new troublesome kid that gets left home alone is called Max and he has supposedly stolen an expensive heirloom from a married couple and they try to steal it back. I don’t how good this one is going to be compared to the others but I think it’ll be a good watch nonetheless.
The Princess Switch 3 – Romancing the Star:
I have already seen the first 2 The Princess Switch films which are actually pretty good; even if they’re a little cheesy and we all like a cheesy film every once in a while, don’t we? The first film was released back in 2018 and it follows Stacy, played by Vanessa Hudgens, who is a young baker and runs a bakery with her friend, Kevin. Stacy is invited to take part in a baking competition she bumps into Lady Margaret Delacourt, Duchess of Montenaro who happens to look identical to her; they use this to switch places for a couple of days. During the second film they switch lives again and in the 3rd film it looks like they meet a third look-a-like of themselves. I can imagine this one being a little bit more difficult to switch lives and sounds like it’s going to be a good’un.
Boxing Day:
I’m sure you’ve all seen the adverts for Boxing Day over the last few weeks and it’s going to be in cinema’s tomorrow as of the day this post goes up. Starring Leigh-Anne Pinnock from Little Mix in her acting debut, Boxing Day follows a British author who has moved to the states and he brings his new fiance to London to meet his family. During their trip Melvin bumps into his ex and it all gets a bit complicated in his relationship when he bumps into Georgia. I’m so excited to go and see this film, mainly to see Leigh-Anne doing something a little different but also to start feeling a little more festive.
The fact that you’re “of course” option was the Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special makes me know we will get on very well. Haha. Only watched it the other night too! Haha.
Oh last Christmas sounds right up my street!!! Does it have Emilia Clarke in? Or I might be getting mixed up with someone else. I’m the same, I’m sure I saw it come out a couple of years ago and wanted to watch it but never did. Will definitely have to now! Oh Single All The Way looks so good too! The Princess Switch also sounds like one I need to be watching, I can’t believe I haven’t seen it yet!
